All relationships have problems. Though our office suggests working out marital problems, couples often reach the point of no return and there is no hope of reconciliation. The next step is divorce. A divorce is contested if any of the following issues areas are in dispute:

  • Child Custody and/or Support

  • Spousal Alimony & Maintenance

  • The Division of Community Liabilities

  • Prenuptial, Postnuptial & Separation Agreements

Divorces can be extremely stressful. The Law Office of Rodney Davis seeks to diligently protect your rights during the divorce process while also remaining sensitive to your situation. Our goal is to ensure that the divorce process is as peaceful as possible for you and your family.

Preparing for a divorce

Before contacting an attorney for your divorce, we recommend taking the below steps to ensure that the divorce process is as efficient as possible:

  • First, make a list of all of the property (including residences, cars, etc.). Determine who purchased the property; whether the property was purchased before or during the marriage; and the value of the property;

  • Next, make a list of all of the accounts (including checking, savings, retirement, etc.) held by your or your spouse and determine the balance of those accounts; and

  • Next, make a list of all of the debts held by you or your spouse.

Gathering and organizing this information prior to your first consultation will help us give you an idea of how your property may be divided. It will also help us to complete necessary documentation required by the courts.
